Aurel Schmidt, 25, lives and works in New York City. This series focuses on the profane, icky, neglected and overlooked objects of daily life. Her work takes an unromantic view of nature and couples it with the loving exactitude of an 18th-century naturalist artist.
Schmidt will present her first New York solo exhibition at Deitch Projects next fall. Burn Outs is her first book.
